Omar Khayyam (1048 – 1131) He was a Persian mathematician, astronomer, and poet, known for his scientific achievements and Rubaiyat (“quatrains”) by the west.He compiled astronomical tables and contributed to calendar reform and discovered a geometrical method of solving cubic equations by intersecting a parabola with a circle. He was a patronage of the Seljuks.
7. Thabit ibn Qurra (826 – 901) Also known as Thebit by the west. Arab mathematician, physician, and astronomer; who was the first reformer of the Ptolemaic system and the founder of statics. He lived in Baghdad in the second half of the ninth century during the time of the Abbasid Caliphate. Thābit ibn Qurrah made important discoveries in algebra, geometry, and astronomy.
8. Abu Bakr Al-Razi (865 – 925)
Also known as Rhazes by the west. Persian alchemist and philosopher, who was one of the greatest physicians in history.
9. Jabir Ibn Hayyan (722 – 804) Also known as Geber by the west. The father of Arab chemistry known for his highly influential works on alchemy and metallurgy. His influence in chemistry is still felt till today.
10. Ibn Ishaq Al-Kindi (801 – 873) Also known as Alkindus by the west. Arab philosopher and scientist, who is known as the first of the Muslim peripatetic philosophers. He contributed a lot to the development of science and philosophy
